When I first thought Tulip was a roo I told my husband that meant I needed more chicks so I brought home 5 newbies (chicken math) . Now I have to tell him that Tulip is a girl after all and 2 out of the 5 new chicks I bought to replace Tulip are roo's

I can just picture the blank stare he's going to give me when I break the news

Hi Serenity,
Columbian is a pattern and not a color. I think what you have is a dark Brahma and here is a link to many pics that are quite similar.
http://www.google.com/search?q=dark...=Tm0sTrXmGK3D0AGZs5XhBg&sqi=2&ved=0CCQQsAQThe patterns vary according to if they meet the "SOP" or if they are hatchery quality, but I definately think this is what you have! Oh, and I think Tulip is a boy

Good to see you today at the swap BTW

Hi Nottingham!

They do look similar to the Dark Brahma but have more white. Maybe they are a cross between a dark and light brahma? They don't quite look exactly like either but look like a tad bit of both? I think I will make a post and see what others who ordered from MPC ended up looking like, curious what the outcome is going to be......

Do you think Tulip is a boy because of the slow feathering?? This waiting around stuff sure is hard

Good to see you today also, how did you end up doing?

Oooops I meant to say Iris is a boy, so sorry

He has that boy look and a more colorful comb than Tulip. I think Tulip is a girl just slower to feather.

I did great. By 12:45 I had everything sold, phew! I really didn't think I could load those birds up again for another swap as it was very stressful on both them and myself. I think they went to good homes too

Talk soon!

That's awesome! Glad you did so great at the swap!!
I will be so bummed if Iris is a boy, I have grown super fond of her or him! I found this link, this chick definitely looks like my LB's so maybe there is some hope? https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=411099

Iris looks like a rooster to me. Time will tell for sure. I agree about the dark brahma/light brahma mix. I have 2 dark brahma girls and my girls have the same feather pattern as your chickens but yours are a lot lighter. They are beautiful birds though! I am still in shock on how pretty they are!
