According to Martin's girlfriend, who he was on the phone with, he put his hoodie up after he noticed he was being followed. According to her, Martin felt threatened by the person following him. Zimmerman's 911 call identifies the person he is following as a "black male". Zimmerman's call also indicated that he found Martin walking in the rain suspicious. Interesting new information today on this case. The police wanted to charge Zimmerman, the county attorney did not. The county attorney was the one who made the call not to charge, the police listed Martin's death as manslaughter. The articles I read never said anything but that he was in a gated community. My mistake. And no I really have not been following the story until lately considering this happened a month ago it has taken the race baiters that long to present their case. This wasn't really news until Obama mentioned it in a stump speech.

This whole thing is like a cliffhanger. I never read that in any of about 3 stories I have read so far on this. Did the boy explain this to the guy? It may have saved his life. When I was 14 I had respect for my elders.

I wear a hoodie all the time. I put my hood on and off all the time for various reasons. Are you suggesting that my intentions (which no one, not even Zimmerman would know) would somehow make it reasonable to shoot me with my hood on? Who cares what his internal dialog was that made him put his hood up? It could have been: "It's cold out tonight." or "I don't want this guy looking at me" or a zillion other reasons.

I question the timing more so than the act. He also could have a guilty conscience and been responsible for burglaries in the area and wanted to conceal his identity, which is why they have security in gated communities or it could be that we just may never know really.
