Lil giant 2 gallon waterer issues

Help!?
1) I have to MAKE sure it is perfectly level or all the water leaks out.
2) MAJOR issue- it is almost impossible to separate to refill. It takes an act of congress AND alot of muscle. Too much suction? Do I need to oil/grease/lubricate the inner/outer section so it slides easier? If not-what? If so-what kind of lube? Cooking oil/wd-40/ spray lube?
I am getting frustrated fighting this waterer daily and open to suggestions/comments/ideas.
Thanks!

I use the larger versions of those same waterers. The one I have set up in he coop right now for the chicks just sits on a five gallon bucket lid on the sand. In the run, I have them sitting on concrete patio blocks that I leveled into the sand. I’ve not had a problem with them in over three years. When I fill them, I always remove the outermost cover and carry the waterer by the inside bar handle (not the skinnier one on the outer cover) to protect the copper piece that creates the vacuum.

Lubricating won't help, it's the vacuum.
I have to shake in an up and down motion to separate.
I only have to separate mine weekly, only have 7 hens for 2 waterers.
I lift and tilt daily without separating to remove debris from trough.
