Limited to two auctions????

Hopefully this will only take a while to fix and will not hurt the pocket book tooooo much. We have some sellers who may struggle a bit more then others because of size of flock and feed bills. We all buy from each other anyway, you peeps know what you need or want. Instead of waiting for an auction, why don't we send a few PM to the BYCers that could use some help and put in some orders for a fair price. We will be preventing eggs from going to waste, and helping a friend till this all gets worked out. BYC is great and we know who created BYC website and they are "AWESOME" but BYC is what it is because of the members too. The knowledge, the love and laughter that is shared. A lot of us are like family, best friends and we should behave this way and support each other. I don't think this auction problem will take long.

Jump in there and send a PM today and remember, RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS...

I completely understand everyones sadness and grief over this huge change...Im sure Rob and all the mods are feeling it too because of us and our gripes....Do we have room to gripe? Its not our site..We didnt create it from the get go..We have just been blessed and spoiled by the old BYC system..Unfortunately, it HAD to expand..upgrade...and in the wake lose one of the best features it had...I for one am deeply saddened by it BUT Rob and all the mods keep saying it will change and they are working to fix things like they were on the auctions. Will it be exactly the same??? DONT COUNT IT. Which means...start figuring out what you can do to be able to afford what you do have and be patient. If that means going elsewhere...and I know many have already, then so be it..i didnt enter into chickens to get rich...I did it for the love of poultry..I did, on the other hand learn how to make my chickens pay for their feed,.through selling eggs on BYC...Again,I had been blessed to have this site provide that for me...if I didnt sell another egg again could I afford what I have? Yes, BUT id wean down to make it more affordable...I DONT need 80+ birds I WANT them...Id keep everything that represents hard work and goals and let go of my funky bunches.....

I understand the folks who have tons of breeds and huge feed bills are worried how they are going to afford them? What did you do before BYC? Did you increase all your flocks and suchs after you realized you can sell tons using BYC? ..Until BYC can fix the auctions either wean down the flocks and keep the best of the best..or utilize other places, as much as wed hate to do it. By doing that your feed bills go down..Will you lose profits..yup..but you wont lose everything...I have never met a group so frugal and witty and crafty! You folks can pull a quarter out of a skunks butt! I love it! Im sure this is all temporary..will it be fixed next week? NOPE..but in the mean time lets leave the mods alone on this matter...maybe not having to answer to us whining constantly about it will free up more time for them to resolve this issue...They are fully aware how everyones feels about it by now...im just as frustrated as everyone else I am not bashing anyone so dont rip into me...what did you do before BYC and its auctions? You survived...go back to survival mode until this can be fixed...soon...I hope..

Just wanted to say it will take sometime to learn the new system but from reading several different threads I have noticed one question in general is never getting answered or mentioned by a administrator/moderator.. If someone else has seen the answer please let me know.. thanks

Approximately when do you expect "full auction support back"?

the above question was asked in response from the below quote

Those of you that listed many breeds, did you have multiple listings and were re-listing them every week?

A reminder: It wasn't our choice to leave off full auction support. It wasn't an option and unfortunately won't be for a while. We're just as unhappy as everybody, but we were forced to make some concessions to improve the other areas of the site. We do want to add full auction support back.
QUESTION: WHY does this question never get answered or mention??? it is simply not being responded to and I have seen it asked several times.

and then I find this reply

The new system is a bit different from the old one, for example:

1) The new system does not support "Proxy Bidding", but we're working around that so we can still allow our members to post auctions and bid on items.
2) Your listings don't expire

System does not support "Proxy Bidding"!! so will this new system never support proxy bidding or can it be eventually added? just wondering that was my favorite part of BYC just scrolling the auction... Actually that was my reason for joining BYC.

adjustment will come in time but just wondering a timeline - 6 months? 1 year?

Nifty is saying the system we have does not support proxy bidding. It is a classified system, designed for set price selling and ads that may stay open a long time. We aren't giving you a date for a return of a true auction system because we don't know. Speed / performance is the top priority.

so i have been thinking to list your basic item and then put a link in the sig line?? otherwise how can folks find it?? not complaining just trying to find a way to work with it

Sonew123, hi and thanks for interesting points. Yes, I will certain agree that the site is not owned by us and that we are allowed to be here at the privilege of those who do own the site. I will be the first to say and have said that our farm has benefitted from the friendship, information and sales/trades made possible by BYC. I will my whole life long be ever grateful for this and believe that many of our friendships here will be lifelong.

Now trying to answer some of your questions. Chicken explosion on our farm didn't start because of BYC, It started because of increased local interest in all kinds of birds.... We were raising chickens years before BYC... In the past 6 months, we began drastic sell down as well as giving away of many of our birds. Three basic chicken flocks are gone from the farm and when 2 more turkeys are picked up we have reduced the size of our turkeys from 6 to 3 flocks. Another chicken flock is scheduled to be picked up this week. And then 10 Black Copper Marans are being given away this week. (Already promised friends, so don't ask me for them.

) (This sell down was because of my health issues, which I don't plan to discuss in terms of the medical names, just basically, my respiratory system is severely impaired. Some improvement due to recent treatments and immunity is down and that's enough said.) I think what would have helped me the most is if we had had a Clear and Loud Head's Up about 30 days or even as soon as it became known that there would be no more auctions and that sales format was going to drastically change as well. Then with that forewarning, we would have calmly and scientifically look at where we wanted to post and how and make needed to make other arrangements setting up auctions/listings/sales, etc,. That would have certainly made this transition much smoother and much less stressful for us.. The monetary stress is particularly being felt in our farm because late Christmas and early Jan. 2012 I had an emergency, lengthy specialty center in and out patient treatments over in Colorado, necessitating many out of pocket expenses included plane fare, hotel bills for those nights I wasn't overnight in the hospital (over $900 in hotel bill and it was at discount rate arrangement by hospital, (date of return flight couldn't be scheduled ahead of time over $500 to get home, so roughly at this present moment i'm sitting on now thousands of dollars of recent debt in addition to lost revenue with what I think was a lack of forewarning about this change......

Now, as I said that about wishing for forewarning re ads/auction, it may be that the big changes in the sales and auctions may have it was in some of the rather lengthy documents, or announcements or feedback sections. If so, I apologize in advance that I didn't have the time to read each page, although I did do last minute testing of the system, and at that time, I became aware of some of how changed the old BST had become.

Did I increase my flocks because of BYC membership....NO....But I will say that I became poultry obsessed and many of the flocks which either expanded/altered or got into were those that I had seen on BYC, never seen before me and I just wanted those flocks.... I think we can also say that the majority of us didn't know as many types of chickens now as when we got into BYC (I'm a hatchaholic, egg pusher, chicken enablor).

Sonew123 I take no offense at what you said.. I certainly hope I didn't sound like a whiner,.in any of my prior comments about the changes in the BST and impact on our farm. I just wanted to talk about more personally about our farm. Again, our farms appreciates all the great friends, advice,trades/buys/etc we have received as well as sales.. I cannot imagine time and people expenses of the new system. I'm certain that our farm will survive as we've been abundantly blessed by God and are in His Hands and care. I'm blessed to be alive and I know really personally that every breath, second, minute and day is truly a gift to be cherished as for our Farm, Only God knows what lies ahead. So, I'm off to walk in the woods and check the fence line and see where the baby goats are escaping....Scoundrels!!! Have a Blessed Day.
