Limits on pets in small NC town....

There is a small NC town in Wake Co that wants to put a limit on the # of pets that a family can have. Whatever would we as feather friend lovers do if they imposed such a limit on us. My county thankfully is mostly rural and likes the fact that we still have a good deal of farm land and no one can buy unless you are willing to buy at least 2 acres unless you are buying something that is already built. I would have a fit to have to part with my birds.

I have relatives who live near this town and if anyone ever told me twenty years ago that they would try to limit the number of pets a person would have, I'd have said they were crazy.

This is another response by the "backyard police" to a few people who are irresponsible pet owners. It's an overreaction that penalizes everyone just because of the actions of a few. Kinda like when your elementary school teacher punished the entire class when one person got into trouble.

I guess we're all little children now. :thun

What town is doing that? That's different!!!! Well, Wake County is acting stupid with all this new growth. Luckily I live in Franklin County.

I see what town it is, I looked it up. Is that a small town? I've never been there. I thought it was big like Wake Forest or something. Here's what I got off of the article:

"We are becoming less rural and more urban," Byrne said, adding that owners with multiple animals sometimes let them roam too freely among dense neighborhoods. "People came to the town and were very frustrated because they couldn't even let their children out of their yard."

What is this state coming to????? I also read there's an estimated 96 people moving to Wake County A DAY!!!! Talk about overpopulation!

what are they targeting, the person with chickens/farm animals now being considered pets or are they targeting the homeowner with 27 pitbulls tied to cement blocks in the back yard(I know a cement block would just give you a bunch of pitbulls dragging blocks around the neighborhood) but hopefully you get what i mean.? Is this a kneejerk reaction because they just discovered a old lady with 200 cats in the house.

Is there a link to the article?

I think they would have to phase it in, cant see them coming out and saying get rid of fido because he is your fourth pet. 3 seems like a low number, I have 3 dogs a cat, do they count gerbils?? I wuld need a better definition of PET. could I get rid of one child and keep an extra dog??

This is so stupid!!! Everyone's always talking about homeless pets being a problem. What does Fuquay want everyone to do...either toss their pets out or kill them?

I was reading some of the comments. If the ACO doesn't come out if there's a stray, how are they going to enforce this stupid law?
It's a very sad state of affairs...I can picture a neighbour with a grudge calling in all sorts of extra animals for no reason.
