Hi,

I'm a long time reader but first time poster.
I wanted to thank you all for what you do here first. You saved my flock several times. :)

Now to the problem:

This big boy is limping for weeks now, I was expecting him to heal with time since he shows almost nothing wrong.
No bumble foot, he's eating fine, no blood and no injury.

Under more inspection, I found out his leg (especially in the knee joint) is swollen and there is this big lump.

I also thought his 3rd toe (the middle one) felt a little off, so I took care of it doing a little padding + splint, but the lump is really worrying me. Any thoughts?

Thank you.

If he has any where he can get up real high and tried to get down and flew a little bit and did not land correctly could of messed up his knee. I had a rooster who did that and broke his toe. It could of jammed the knee together. Hope this helps.

Could you post a picture of him and both legs and feet standing from the front? I am not sure about the lump or knot, but he could have a swollen joint from a sprain. Are his ankles swollen? Is the lump hard or squishy?

Hi,

Thanks for the answers!
English is not my native language but I'll try my best to explain a little further and give answers! :)

- One of his legs is fine, not swollen at all. That's the leg he uses all the time.

- Both ankles look fine to me. I searched for injuries there too!

- In the bad leg, his knee joint is swollen, you can see very well the difference from the good leg.

- The lump is hard, not squishy.

- He NEVER put his weight in the bad leg - I mean - to support him while he is standing or walking.

- While putting small amounts of pressure near the lump, he definitely feels pain.

I will check his finger again tomorrow and grab another set of pictures of his legs. I will update the thread when I take them.
Meanwhile, I hope I could answer to some questions!

Thanks very much everyone once again.

What country and city are you from?
Meaning where do you and the rooster live?

We're very near São Paulo, Brazil. :)

Here are the photos, as the other ones, you can click to enlarge. :p
(Sorry the sun wasn't helping, I tried killing the photo contrast a little)

As shown, he never puts his bad foot (the one with the red arrow) on the ground.
The lump is where the blue arrow is pointing.

I think that's all, I believe it's a fracture of some kind but can I even fix it?
Thanks everyone

Para a dor, você pode ir ao veterinário com uma aspirina infantil. Você pode querer colocá-lo em uma pequena gaiola para que ele fique quieto. Nós usamos caixas de cachorro para isso.

For pain you can go vet him one baby aspirin. You might want to put him in a small cage so he is quiet. We use dog crates for this.

I don’t speak Portuguese, this is Google translate.

You can wrap it with an elastic wrap like what they use when you get you blood drawn the one that sticks to it's self or the one that they use to wrap horses legs in or any animal injury.

Like.. wrap around the lump?

Hahaha, no worries, I understand english very well, I'm just not as good at writing it and expressing myself. :p

By looking at the photos, it's a broken leg or it's out of place right?
So...this is one for the vets?

I don't want to do harm to him, but ye, would be nice to fix him myself. hehe
