One of my 2-yr old Stars was limping so I checked it out. She was surprisingly docile, letting me poke and prod without a peep or a cluck.

I felt for embedded stones or hard objects but there just seemed to be a hard mass at the base of the middle toe that looked like a bunion.

Since I had some self sticking bunion pads handy, I put one one. Am observing and hoping it helps and that she does not pick it right off.

Here's a picture - would appreciate any information that would help me to help her. Thanks.

Likely bumblefoot, very common. Treatment is soaking and draining the infected area. There are some how to posts, just search for them.
