Hi!

so I have this little bantam roo, who has been limping for the past two days. (See video) Last night i checked him out and didn’t feel any warmness, or swelling. There are no injuries, cuts, bruises etc. He gets around good limping, eating and drinking fine. Should I keep him contained for a bit till he feels better? Any ideas what it could be or what to do?

thanks!

(see video)

Did you check under his feet also?
It's possible he "strained" himself jumping off a roost, landing hard or on something hard. You could keep him contained in a wire care with food & water, resting him but yet with the flock. More will be peeping in with their opinions as to possibilities ...
Handsome guy

I did, I checked him all over. No signs of bumble foot or any injuries. The roost bar he has been sleeping on is it bit higher so maybe he hurt it jumping down? It’s definitely a possibility. I just want him to improve. :(

Keep him confined for a few days to rest up, if you have a crate or wire cage to keep in the coop, that way he remains part of the flock.

Thank you! That’s what I’m going to do. I went out again and checked him head to toe, up his entire thigh and under feet, literally everywhere... and don’t see or feel any issues.

the one thing I did notice is that he sleeps with his toes curled up. They only curl up while he’s sleeping though. Not sure if this is normal or not?

Someone else mentioned to give him some baby aspirin as well, so I will confine him within the coop for a few days and give aspirin and see if that helps. :)

How old is he? What are you feeding?
Curling of the toes when sleeping, assuming it's the limp side....Is he standing or resting on the roost? Can you get a picture?

hes just about 4 months now. They have access to chick starter / grower and flock raiser (Purina).

He rests on the roost (sitting his body on his feet). He doesn’t stand on it.

Today he is not putting any weight on it at all. I built a separate little enclosure today to put within the coop so he’s not isolated, and going to move him into that tonight for a few days.

Here are some photos of his legs / feet. Sorry best I could do with him in one hand, and my phone in the other lol.

If anyone else can see something I don’t?!

If he's now not putting any weight on the left leg, then he may need to be restricted to a cage where he won't injure it further. He's a very attractive youngster, and seems naturally energetic. Rest will not likely thrill him, but he really shouldn't be trying to run around like that.

A baby aspirin in the morning and at night can help with the pain. Chickens heal pretty quickly. I'd say a couple days of no activity, then begin letting him out for limited periods, increasing the activity gradually.
