Hello,
I have a flock of migratory waterfowl. Last week I had a drake pintail begin to limp. After a few days it got worse. So I confined him for a couple of days but there was still no sign of improvement. He would still eat and drink but wouldn't put any pressure on his right leg that was swollen at the hock. He later isolated himself from the other ducks and i found him laying down dead one morning. I do not believe it was bumblefoot because he had no visible abscess or scabs. When I found him, I moved the injured leg back and forth and it wasn't stiff like the other.
I have another duck developing a limp and am worried it might lead to death like the other. Any ideas of what this could be or how I should treat the injured duck? Thanks

Picture where the swelling is? Does the duck's leg feel hot at all? Check all over the leg very carefully for cuts or abscess? Is there any other signs than leg weakness?
