Linoleum on floor

I'm pretty sure that most of what you buy these days is vinyl not linoleum. Old linoleum yellows and cracks and becomes brittle, so you would know it if you had it.

Either way, as long as the flooring is glued down well around the edges, you won't have any problem with anything getting under it and causing it to loosen. I like silicon sealer to make sure the flooring is down solidly.

I have experienced better results with a better grade of vinyl that is plastic backed and not paper backed. Over time, the paper backed tends to degrade, especially if moisture gets under it.

I am thinking of putting it down loose trapping it with wooden moulding & sealing Does this sound ok

Yes, I think that'll be okay.

I have an 8x10 coop with a sheet of vinyl over the wooden floor. I didn't adhere the vinyl to the subfloor. I laid the sheet on the floor and then put the walls up so the perimeter edges of the flooring are trapped under the bottom plates of the walls. Since I didn't think ahead to make the bottom plates out of treated 2x4s, I put a 'base moulding' of treated 1x3s around the perimeter and then caulked along the bottom so the plates don't get wet. I use sand and PDZ as bedding so really the only time it gets wet is if the water is spilled/drips/leaks/whatever.

I put the 12X12 stick down squares on the bottom of my coop (left over from a project) I have not had any problems with them. They cleaned up easy (wipe down and scrap off), my hens are not having a problem walking on them with at thin layer of chips. I have only had my chickens for about 6 Months now but I would say seem to be good. now if you are using the flooring that snaps together I had a problem with that in my walk way at home if water sits on it they can start to flack up or chip off so that could be a concerned but they do make solid vinyl now not the press wood with vinyl topping.

Do most people put it on the floor or floor & a couple of inches on the walls as i don't like the idea of cutting to put it round the studs/braces on my shed

Just do whatever works best for your situation. If you don't want to cut, carry it up the wall a few inches. That'll be fine.

I put my vinyl down and then screwed the walls down on top of it to secure it around the edges. I keep a deep layer of dead leaves inside so I expect the vinyl to last quite a long time since there is no real wear and tear on the vinyl itself.
