Hi,
My 2y old hatched chick (now became a lovely sweat social human loving hen) has a lipoma size of 1.5 baseballs...
Went to a specialised vet with her, he tried draining but nothing came out. He concluded it was a lipoma and not cancerous.

She has a medicinal treatment but we could only start today with it since it has to be given every day nonstop.
It's a drug that eliminates fat and forms it into energy but it doesn't taste good. She needs to be on it for 2weeks in the hope to shrink the mass.

The mass has grown a bit since 2w ago. Am afraid they will still need to decide to cut her since it's close to her airpockets in her back and so heavy it dropped through the abdominal muscles to her belly wand.

Is there anyone with exp to find sth that could help? We had a 5y old hen with similar mass (was also obese) but she passed within 2months :/ it just doesn't make any sense. The mass is firm, hurts her alot so she doesn't like to be lifted up anymore when it means you let her rest on her abdomen... The moment she gets trouble breathing or odd comb she will be wheeled the same day in the OR because even with a young healthy bird like her surgery is risky.

Anything I can try? We are encouraging her to walk even more and she's on a diet with no treats expect every now and then a bit protein worms. Yet she is still stuffing herself with grain all over in her crop sigh...

She's also the only chicken too fat left in the coop. One other chicken was underweighted so that one needs to eat seeds. Putting her apart is also bad for the pecking order...

Please help with a bit advice, we really need it. If it were your chicken, would you let her do the surgery?

Where is the mass? If it is under the vent, that can be a common spot for a bulge. How did the vet determine that the mass was a lipoma?

The mass is under the abdomen and air pockets in the back but it dropped to the abdominal wall and the tail. The vet determined it after several painful punctions. There was no fluid at all comming out so it was the diagnosis of lipoma. He also felt it and it presses against her egg tubes. Might still need operation the poor thing but I'm afraid. Want what's best for her but idk what to do. Finding myself cruel need to insert 14d awfull tasting fluid in her beak...
