Listless Chicken with Diarrhea (Updated with pictures!)

I ready about your chicken and it sounds like my RI red. She is my nicest chicken and I don't want to lose her. She stayed on her roost when I opened the coop this morning and I carried her out. She just stood there and didn't eat or drink. I just went out an hour later and she is standing in the same spot. I don't know what to do for her. I'm going to go put some vinegar in the water.

I know that this is an old thread, but I want to thank you all for the details of what was going on with your girls, how they were treated, and that they got better!! My Ruby, a Rhode Island Red, has had diarrhea for several days, but was acting fine until this morning when she is quite listless. I immediately made a vet appointment for tonight (was willing to see a chicken, but not sure how experienced she actually is. The only dedicated avian vet in the area I could find won't see chickens. Humph.) I feel a bit better armed with the knowledge of what happened with your girls. She hasn't really pooped today, minus once that was nearly complete water. I dropped that off for analysis, hopefully it was enough that they can check for parasites. My concern is internal laying/egg peritonitis. Not super familiar with that, but she started laying less than a month ago, and has been less consistent for the last two weeks, so it seems that laying may be part of the problem. Normally I don't like antibiotics unless there is a clear cause, but given Catherine and Harriet's experiences, it seems that antibiotics are the way to go, unless there is something else clearly wrong.

Again, thank you so much! I am new to chickens. I have the Storey's Guide, but this website is my other go-to for any questions I have! You are all wonderful!

**Update**
Well, Ruby looked fine by the time of her vet appointment that evening. No parasites noted in her stool. I've kept a close eye on her, and her sister, and the both look healthy and happy. She has been laying eggs more consistently. I decided to blame her significant puniness to stress and changes in weather. I am just thankful that she is better!!
