Little Bit of Horse Heaven’s chicken coop

Ps: hes a gelding, a sweet animal, he was excited and he even pulled his punch when he looked back he immediatly realized hed screwed up. He usually ran off if he got that chance but that day he only went like 12 ft in front of me and stopped to look at me like "are u ok?" Injured and all he let me catch him and put him where he belonged. I was hurting for a month but went to ER nothing, broken or busted i swear he pulles his punch when he realized it was me back there.

Im really sorry im blowing your thread up but i thought u might want this extra bit that he didnt break or bust me.

I had asked you some questions in that post. But also Are these your first chickens? I really love chickens and im always glad when people choose this better way of life for themselves and the food they consume. So downside is i could talk shop for days
No as a matter of fact these are not our first chickens we have 5 French cuckoo Marans one hen... and 4 black sexlinks all hens. The indoor has plenty of space it’s 50x150 as far as the windows no I gave a glance today at that section it has the old ribbed clear fiberglass panels on this part of the barn there nailed in place. Looking at incubators now we are thinking about getting some eggs of some rare birds and do our own breeding and supply our aria with chickens. It’s a big dream but hey why not. Any thoughts on a incubator? Are you following what is going on in the mid west?

The VND?

I love the brisea brand. If you can afford them, their incubators are some of the most accurate on the market. I watched craigslist for months before i found the first one. Holds 60 chickens eggs and was 700$ new. Still i paid 250. That exact type isnt available anymore but they have a new line. The styrofoam bators can be sort of hit or miss. Alot depends on your location of the incubator. You want it preferably in an unused closet. A room, closet or cuboard away from traffic so that the temp around the incubator stays pretty stable. Not near any windows or ac/heat vents.

Okay so with other chickens you have a pretty good understanding of chicken needs, and your chores. thats really good for building coops! My DH doesnt have any idea of those things so like hes built me some wonky coops. Keep in mind the ease of your job because come those frigid winters i would hate to be out there. I supose in the barn it shouldnt be all that bad as a dry wet? Your far enough inland you dont have humidity problems? You know im in southern LA so alot of my incubation and housing techniques are geared toward my warm wet climate.

Sorry it’s been a few days guys, we had some high winds that tore off some of the sideing on the indoor. Which in turn spooked the horses causing them to bust out and run two miles down the road in can’t see your hand in front of your face kind of conditions yeah that was fun... we been cleaning up the mess and Now we are having to deal with a couple of wounded horses, a disgruntled boarder and now 11 or so more inches of snow gotta love it here at little bit of horse heaven
