i got 20 turkey eggs locally, so many quitters Blue Slate eggs :( I am bit unsure, i gonna leave em for a few more days see if anything pans out from those 8 eggs I think they a little to dark for an infertile egg, last time i had 1 infertile and it was much lighter. Turkey eggs can be hard to see through. I know last time I was unsure and left the unsure one and it hatched. so maybe they are hiding from me. One blood ring egg which i tossed, so if I am right only 11 out of the 20 eggs are good.

Little depressed with my BS Turkey eggs but my one chicken egg in there that came from a young hen is really moving around, so that makes me so happy.

The last turkey eggs I bought locally were even worse of a dud. I think because I had my incubator over stuffed (in anticipation of hubby having a new one nearly finished), I cooked most of the eggs I had. Out of 20, 3 hatched and one of those had to be culled due to tendon issues in the legs. It was a disaster, a very sad disaster since I had plans on keeping some as pets.

If you are unsure, keep them as long as possible until after the due date. I just hatched a EEer chick from a egg I was sure was a bad egg. It did not develop along the same lines as the other aircells. Although it was the last one to hatch, he's a big chick and healthy.
Good luck with the turkeys! :)

Edit: When are your eggs due to hatch? It's very hard to tell near the end if they are good or not.

i Know they get so dark. and the lady i got them from she has good fertility rates so i am baffled and her eggs I do good with. My mistake is I candled late. Last time I candled everyday, so i could see improvement over time..But i just set my temps and did not candle until this AM in the closet which I am midway. I think u might have something with them not developing like the others, all the eggs where on one row. not one here or another over there..

I remember last go the infertile egg was quite easy to pick out way to much light came through, these r not like that so I am confused LOL i need to candle tonight to double check..I was thinking to leave them see what happens...but the exploding egg worries me

lol exploding eggs do reek! For the record though the only eggs I have had explode in the incubator were ones with unnoticed hairline cracks. I've left some "unsure" eggs for the entire duration of incubation and *knock on wood* have not had any of those explode.

It's normal for nearly all incubators to have hot or cold areas. You may have an especially hot spot on that row which "cooked" the eggs :( With my turkey eggs I cooked, most did not make it past the half way point. Temps I think were just too hot for further development. It's hard to tell, unless you see movement, at the half way stage. They may be DIS or sleeping, I always hope they are just sleeping lol. they prove me wrong though when they do not follow the development of the viable eggs. You should be able to tell for sure in a few days if they are quitters. The veins will go away and you will just have a blob of dark floating around in there that will fool you sometimes and make you think it's moving. If you are especially adventurous, you can sacrifice one unsure egg and see if it is for sure dead in shell then you will know if the others you think are DIS are DIS.

I exploded an egg in a microwave once. See I thought I could cheat making hard boiled egg. That was the nastiest thing I ever smelled. Lol
