Little duck from the flea market...?

Yes, she said once everything heals she should be good to go. The gland is still making oil, but since the whole area is open and wounded right now she can't properly use it (since they normally rub/spread it around). 😁
I sure would like to know what would have caused that kind of injury!
And bless you for taking care if her. 😘

Me too! Though I think @Miss Lydia s idea is probably the closest. I know chickens can be pretty vicious about open wounds/blood. The guy did have chickens in some other cages, but not in with the ducks. So he probably kept them all together at some point. And thank you!! ❤️
Bless your kind heart for taking that baby in and providing such good care. Stories like this make my day. It’s always nice to see kind folks helping animals in need.
Thank you so much!! I'm just glad I can do something to help and that she won't be treated badly anymore!

Another update for everyone! Hershey is doing great. Her wound is almost completely healed.

She is still very timid and scared, but today she made some progress and finally relaxed and took a little ducky bath in front of me! (In very shallow water of course!). I've also been working with her in 20 minute increments, where I just sit and hold her, pet her and talk softly to her. It seems to have helped a lot too. ❤️
