I have not posted a thread in SUCH a long time that I’m back to my old ways of being extremely hyper on BYC. :D
So basically...
Winters coming!
Insulate your coops! Keep your chickens warm! After the winter it’ll be chick season again and we can all heave a sigh of relief! :D
I’m just wondering...
Are any of you purchasing any new chicks in spring 2019? I know I am. 3 Buff Orpington pullets. I think I’ve said that enough since April 2018...
Welp, no harm saying it again. Sorry to those sick of me saying it, but...

I’M GETTING CHICKS IN SPRING!! My first chicks will come after ONE whole YEAR on BYC!
Have a safe winter everyone! :wee

Since we will be finishing up our revamp of an old shed into a bigger coop before winter we will have more room for new chicks in the spring.

I am getting several chicks next spring. My first picks are Salmon Faverolles. After those I am interested in Favaucanas, maybe Cream Legbars and some Ameraucanas. I have found local breeders for most of those. I like having a variety of eggs so maybe a few Oliver Eggers.

Winter? Winter? It's 95 degrees and dry as a bone in Northern California. No rain since March and probably no rain for another month. I'm hot and ready for cool weather, but the chickens don't care! Our coop is not insulated, we only have a few mornings of freeze here. That's why I live here, no snow! Enjoy winter there and keep busy until those chicks come in spring!
