I won't candle again until 17, right before lockdown. I hate not being able to know what's going on in there! If I were you I would end up candling them anyway. With my first try to hatch some, I didn't know it was bad to candle them a lot. I candled every single day. OOPS! But they were all dead before I got my candler any way so I guess it didn't matter lol.

O3, O4, X5, X7, X8 have movement that we can see. In O1, O2 (both double yolkers) and O6, we are not sure if we saw movement. O5 is a day behind these ones and we think we saw movement, it does have veins. We will candle again on the 23rd right before lockdown.

Now that I'm thinking about it I thought I had read somewhere to candle on day 10 and 17 to check for progression in the development. Does that sound right? Day 10 for me will be the 16th.

If I wait till day ten it will be because my wife has put a padlock on the bator lol! I am looking every other day at the moment. I think by day ten I will be able to leave them alone for a little while but I doubt it

Well I read on the incubation cheat sheet in the learning center that the air cell should be checked (marked?) on day 7, 14 and 18. so you have to candle on those days.

Yeah. That's what I read too. But I can't help myself so I candle them anyway lol.

I only have eight eggs in my bator. I think that is part of my problem with the temp.

I have a piece of PCV pipe in the middle and the eggs around that in a circle. At night I move the eggs around the circle so that if I have cold or hot spots every body gets a turn. I'm turning them three times a day and no stuck chicks. I'm pretty sure the two double yolk ones are no longer developing but every one else looks good, so far.
Today is day seven so tonight I am going to outline the air cell in pencil. Which of course means I'll have to candle them

Is anyone putting their eggs in cartons? I thought about doing it but it seemed like the eggs where to close to the heating element so I have them on their sides.

Mine are just laying on their side. That's how I've read to do it.
