At lockdown in the styros unless you are completely hands off, I'd recommend 70-75% at hatch. Definitely 65+ I run 30-35% first 17 days and 75% for lockdown/hatch.

The humidity was likely too high when the chick died. If the windows are dripping condensation...the humidity is too high

With as much trouble with this type of bator I'm thinking I will sell it and squire a better more idiot proof version. Been looking online and found some that have everything built in turners humidity alarm temp alarm etc...

I sold mine. I bought a GQF genesis hova bator 1588. My auto turner from the LG 9300 fits. I am having excellent hatch rates now. I have never touched the factory preset temp. I put eggs in it and leave it alone for 18 days. I then take out the turner and fill up water tray #1. It is perfect

OK I know one of the teachers at the school I work at has one as well. I will look into one in my searches. At this point I'm looking into set it and forget it with my schedule being so mucked up might be best thought.

On another note and a bit heartbreaking "Charlie" passed away last night.
It was the only one to hatch since I started trying out my hand at this hobby.
Not yet ready to give up yet though.

Hello again everyone.
Good news as I was trying to collect the funds for the genisis 1588, my better half surprised me with the unit being delivered on this past Sunday.
I immediately opened it up and read everything in the instructions. Afterwards hooked it up put water in chanel two (missed one lol). And it's been running ever since. I have a digital hygrometer in and the two readouts were only a few degrees off. Very happy and hopefully we will have a good hatching next attempt.

Now the bad news we originally went with a standard heatlamp type for the brooder but after reading a few posts about dangers of fire and such I'm wondering if I should go with a different type of heat source.
The ecoglow units look like a good choice but are so expensive for the larger unit. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thought of trying a heating pad which is similar to the ecoglow but wasn't sure if it would be a good idea.

Looking for help in loves park.

Congrats on getting the 1588. The little giant auto turners will fit inside the 1588 and work well.
I bought a heating plate from Premier 1. It costs alot less than eco glo.
