little giant 9300

Day 7, I candled and weighed. Out of 11: 4 developing, 5 clear (3 with detached aircells), and 2 blood rings (first time I've actually seen one).

On the plus side, the weight loss is right on track at 4.22% at an average 30%-35% humidity. Was shooting for 4.67% maximum by day 7.

That being said I think I may need to take out the clears and blood rings now because I don't know if they will lose moisture at the same rate as a developing egg? Anyone know?

Day 10, candled and weighed. Embryos still kickin', weight loss is still okay at 6.31%.

I decided to keep the other eggs in as a heat sink, I'll take them out at lockdown or if they look like they're going bad.

@@TheGeekySheep Sounds good! Thanks for the update!
Firing up the incubator now, just received a box of local Buff Silkie eggs, I'm going to lower humidity and I put the incubator on top of a sturdy laundry basket, hoping that increases air flow. The addiction continues....

Day 14: Weight loss is still on track but one quit on me since last candling (it was the one with the stabilized detached aircell, maybe it detached again?) so now I'm down to 3. Just one more week, I hope they make it...

I hope they make it too @TheGeekySheep!
Hopefully 2 pullers and a roo so you can start a flock of them!
Keeping humidity down here to 40%, the turner sure is nice, I'm not hovering over the incubator as much! Will be interesting to see what happens with a bakers dozen of non shipped eggs. Let you all know when I candle tomorrow what I find. Chicks are good, I think one might be a roo from the way he puffs up and prances around the yard and keeps the other in check.

Just locked down! Weight loss seems to have accelerated at the end there but I'm not too far off so I hope it won't matter. My 3 embryos are still moving, I'm hatching in cartons with the sides cut very low so I can see if someone pips on the wrong end. Here we go! :)
