Little Giant Hatch Along

I have 32 in my LG, but the temp. keeps rising and dipping constantly. I have a digital thermometer in there now, i just dont know if its right. About 2 minutes ago it was at 100.6 degrees, now it at 98 degrees. Im definitley either getting a fan or new incubator the next time i hatch.

Thanks everyone for joining!! Glad to hear I am not alone!

I have mine at a steady 102 and around 50 for humidity. If you are using a fan I know it should stay around 100. I am having to keep a heating pad on the top on the incubator to keep it at 102. It was down to 98.4

So, in spite of what the instructions are with the LG go ahead and increase the temp? I can no problem. The room it is in is free of drafts and it holds it's temp......

I have been told for a still air to have it at 102, I have also seen online people say this as well. I am borrowing this from a friend and he has hatched 69 out of 72 chicks in this one with that temp. It is up to you It seems to be working for me

I candled the eggs and I can see the blood island in the egg already

This is my first time hatching, really hoping for a good hatch.

I wanted to add I have never hatched at this temp before so I can not be sure how well it will work. I have been told by people that they have great hatches at this temp, but dont know this for myself. So please research and decide for yourself as I don't want to mess anyones hatch up

Just saw this thread. Today began my lockdown of 5 silkie and 24 EE. I started with 6 silkie eggs but on day 8 one was not fertile. My EE rooster has great fertility, all eggs producing healthy chicks. This was a no turn and 30 degree tilt experiment in egg cartons. Only two of my EE eggs candled. Dry until day 10. Then added water to one channel. For lockdown I added water to all channels. I also fluctuated heat, warmer during day. Eggs are now on drawer liner on the wire. Movement in two silkie eggs at 6:30pm. I keep notes on all my hatches. Have started saving EE eggs from two salmon girls for next hatch. Good luck too all. Happy hatching.

Wow sounds like you have this hatching down pat. I took the heating pad off it is keeping temp on it's own now. I did make a bubble wrap cover as it is not in a draft free area.

H everyone I'll follow along here. I'm hatching in an LG still air I had started out using a turner but I like to do multiple small batches and with it being my only incubator it's just easier to hand turn. I don't add water to mine as humidity stays between 50-55% and I have good results and I keep my temp at 102.

Last weekend I hatched my first clutch with this incubator I started out with 10 and only 6 were viable of those 6 3 hatched and a 4th piped and died before fully hatching so I'm fairly pleased with those results. Right now I'm on lock down with 6 more eggs and one has already pipped and its only day 20 ( its a bantam egg though :yaout of my MGB roo and either MGB or OEGB hen)

I have 3 more clutches in right now as well #3 is 4 bantam eggs set 3/13, #4 is 6 bantams and 4 standard mutts started 3/22, and 8 Swedish duck eggs also set 3/22.

This is my 2nd hatch and I added a fan for this one. So far I can tell a major difference. My temp was all over the place before..I'd wake up and itd be 98 and late in the day it'd spike to 102.4. I have seen very little variation with the temp now. I am having a little trouble keeping the humidity right though. Seems like the fan is going to make me fill up the watermuch more this time around.
