Little Giant Hatch Along

What kind? I have some blacks one that look like that one, but I have no idea what they are.

He is a silkie, and actually is a salt & pepper look to him. How ling do you leave them in the incubator before taking them out? He has not fluffed out yet and I am going to be gone most of the day and don't want the poor guy to over heat. I am sorry to hear about your one chick. How is it doing this morning?

Went into lock down Sunday a.m. Removed turner, added 2 sponges
Sunday p.m. I checked on them and my add on computer fan died, temp was 102. Turned temp down a smidgen.
Monday a.m. temp holding at 100.
Checked Tues around 6:00pm, First holes in 3 eggs. Checked again at 11:00 pm, 2 chicks out of shells and 3rd with a dime size hole.
Wed. 6:00 am, moved 2 chicks to brooder, 3rd chick pushing out, helped a little bit, it was out in 10 min, see holes in 2 other eggs.

We had a fourth egg hatch over night

Most of ours stayed in the bator anywhere from probably 5 hours to 15 hours I guess. I put our little back in last night around 9:00 to dry after his 'bath' and left him and the other one that hatched after putting him in in there till just now, 9:20AM this morning.

Some people say you can leave them in there for 24+ hours??

Yay!!! You had one to do what one of ours did, didn't see the pip and withing about 2 hours it was out!?!

We have one more with a pip, but I don't think it is going to hatch. Today is day 23 and I know that it could happen, we'll see.

I had one pip yesterday...first one to pip at that time....all day it sat there....rocked a few times but no more shell pushed out....sometime a round 2am that little thing finally zipped and hatched. It was pipped ALL day! And one egg...one of those skinny eggs that I probably should not have put in there....pip to zip to pop out in less than 10 minutes! That was a record in my hatch!

18 out.....21 still in the incubator....many with pips.....but still no feathered feet!

...we have two little feathered feet ones..daddy is a cochin mix...

Question though...the one that got shrinkwrapped seem a little weaker than the other two in the brooder, he is younger, he is coming up on 24 hours..but can it be that he is simply weak from the hard hatch, can I help him?? I have given him some sugar water, he is starting to peck at the feed, but not a whole lot is getting swallowed it seems..
He walks a little wonky..my hubby thinks he is pigeon toed, but I can see it..(ps he is one of the fuzzy legged ones..)..any ideas??..or should I just wait it out..would hate to loose little Sugar Ray..he is our fighter after all..

I read...you know I read all the time! I read, to put a drop...carefully on their beak every few hours of polyvisol w/o iron. I bought that and electrolites before the hatch. He does no need food for 48 hrs....I have put a very shallow lid with water in my brooder and some have found it....not quite sure what it is but they did find it. They have dipped their beaks in it.

Good luck on Sugar Ray......STILL no feathered feet! Have five eggs pipped now and hoping one at least is a cochin! Put the BR's in with the mixed chickies....they were pretty amazed by their coloring and seem fixated on their feet for some reason.

So, much luck and good vibes for us late hatchers!

Thanks Bburn..will run and get some of that, had some but I think I chunked it as not needing it again..hehe.

Come on feathered feets, come on..

..I still have a rocker in my brooder..day 23..but again, these might have been added under my broody hen a little later as I noticed the one time a day she got off to eat, someone else got ontop and laid an egg..typical..
