In the little Giant instruction manual it states to remove one red plug during the first 18 days then remove the second plug for lockdown to increase air circulation. Doesn’t this reduce humidity I am reading in several postings that Humidity needs to be higher in the last 3 days. We are on day 2 what is the best humidistat for my little giant? Before I set the eggs yesterday I filled the water rings will I need to add more water at anytime soon? I don’t want to open the incubator until the 7th or 8th day to check for fertility, then again at the 14th day.

I would take the directions that came with the LG and put them in the trash. I have found all my help on here. I am doing EVERYTHING different than what the manual says.

I leave one plug out the entire time and use the secondary plug for humidity regulation. That way if it gets too high, I can unplug the second one and let it out so little chickies don't drown...

I'm new to this and have incubated once. I left both plugs in. I used a new kitchen dish spounge in my incubator. I would have to remove it once a day to re-wet it. Towards the end I used a small glass bowl of water with a paper towel half in & half out of the water. When I did that I didn't have to open the incubator near as much.
I know what I did was not the "right way" BUT I hatched 37 out of 40 eggs!! So it worked for me!!!
