So I have some major sakers. One has the start of a crack hopfully going to be a pip. And I hear cheeping!!! I am getting anxious. I am supposed to got workout for a couple of hours with some friends but I'm thinking I will stay home depending on if they pip before I have To go! :D

I miss Tim Hortons. I wish they had them in Knoxville Tennessee. I guess if I want coffee I have to drive to Columbus Ohio that's the closest one to here that I am aware of.

I love Tim Hortons too! I actually haven't been to one since I moved a little over 2 years ago, but just looked and I have 4 locations within 10 miles of my house, and one about a mile from my work. I think I'll be having Tim Bits for lunch! haha

Awesome!! I get a workout during hatch time from moving from one chair to the other, to look in the window on the other side of the bator, and then pacing the floor. Maybe I should add some jumping jacks!

You should go, maybe it won't feel so long between pip and zip if you are out doing something and not staring into the bator....lol (this is only a theory-I wouldn't know since my nose is glued to the bator once "lockdown" begins...lol)

Me too!!!! lol

Okay so two of my BCM eggs have pipped. One is cheeping the other has not really done much all morning. How long does it normally take for them to start zipping? My shakers are still shaking and not doing much. Temp holding steady at 102.4 and the humidity level is at 70%. I am stressed!

Well it can take a good 24 hours. Generally with mine I'd say between 12-18 hours if you averaged it out.

I am usually 10-14 hours from first pip to first hatch. You get so excited when you see the pip, then nothing for hours on end. It's hard to watch, and it seems like there is something wrong, but that's just how it goes: a little work and a lot of rest. Once they start zipping, they will pick up steam

Yup. You hear so many horror stories about chicks pipping and not hatching that it makes us too quick to jump in and help. Even I (knowing that it takes lots of time) am guilty of that from time to time. We don't give nature the credit it deserves sometimes and we like to "play God"- with good intentions of course. (At least mine are.) It takes a long time for them to do what they need to do to be ready and we rush that too much.
