Yeah, I tried that. Unless I got a big bowl, it's useless.... he will not stay put. He flipped himself out of what I had him in, so I flipped him over, removed all the egg shell stuck in the yolk goo, hoping it would absorb if nothing was stuck in it, wrapped him burrito style in a damp paper towl and Ill be darned if he didn't flip flop himself out of that and now has a ton more of shell pieces. I just know he's a male... I think I'm up to 16 hatched, npt counting him. I have TWO malepositioned buggers. I'm pretty sure that 3 of the eggs are gonners, possibly four. If all the other's hatch I'm looking at roughly 30-32 at finish. 36 out of 42 had made it to lockdown, so I can handle those numbers, especially in a little giant bator...lol
Wow, congratulations. That's where a successful LG hatch beats a Brinsea: Capacity!!! I hatched 18 last time and sold out in 4 days, maybe because of Easter.
Your little silver ones are gorgeous. Looks like they have a little silkie in them

There were only three eggs that she collected from the silkie pen and none of them made it.

One was the one that hatched yesterday way too early before it was ready and had a ruptured yolk sack and a lot of bloody membrane still attached. The other two I pulled this afternoon (knowing they were goners) along w/a third that I knew was gone and did the eggtopsies. The two silkies were extremely shrink wrapped (the air cell after lockdown doubled on them.) One of them would have a been a gorgeous pure black one too. The third eggtopsie was an upside down pipped on a vein in the pointy end. She was yellow. I had a fourth that I didn't think was viable (as a matter of fact I had made a note doubting it's hatch because it looked behind on lockdown,) that I had pulled, but when I candled it had pipped into the air cell and is much alive, so he was stuck back in and we'll just have to give him another 24 and see what happens.

So I've had 29 hatch (with one dying after hatch) and are in the incubator. One of today's also had yolk unabsorbed and is in a coffee cup, much to her avail. It has absorbed about 2/3 since this morning. Other than that she looks perfectly healthy, so I have lot of hope that she will thrive and get out of her little prison. I have two that are pipped but not ready, hoping they make it ok. Plus the one I wasn't expecting. Hopefully by the end of tomorrow night I can claim 31 (slim possibility 32 if the other hatches) out of the 36 that went into lockdown, with only one after hatch loss. And knock on wood, it looks like all of the hatchers thus far are healthy and strong w/no leg problems.

The little guy that hit his beak on the fan is fine, I can't even tell which one he is and the one that almost scalped himself on the fan is doing well. I put some more antibiotic cream on his head/above the eye this morning.

I have lots of fluffy but pics for later too...lol

I am happy with the results so far, especially considering that the LG is not the easiest bator to get good hatches from.

I'm on day 12 with 4 eggs, day 13 with 1, and day 14 with 2. One egg on day 12 that I checked today is clearer than the others, but it had and still has a small dark dot on it. It seems less developed than the other day 12-ers, so is it gone? Also, the day 14 eggs are very hard to see through now. I can see the air cell, but there is a dark orb that makes it hard to see. The day 13 one is similar, just a little easier to see. All eggs were candled at day 5 and 7 and showed positive signs of development then. Thoughts on the eggs?

P.S. I can't take pictures right now because my camera is having problems.

So I recandled my eggs today which would make day 9 and had confirmed 3 yolkers and 1 quitter. So right now fertility rate is at 82%. The isbar eggs showed more growth and I was able to see movement. I was so happy. my darkest bcm egg is so hard to see but I can see growth just nothing else. Lol! Hope all is well.

Congrats everyone on your new little ones!

By day 12 they are starting to get pretty full, so I'd say you are good! Makes it a little harder on us to know what they are doing, unlike the 7-12 days when you can see so much, but that's a good thing! Are you using a turner or have another hatcher? Multiple dates can be a challenge!

Sorry about your silkies. I hear they are harder. Do they maybe need higher humidity setting? I have no idea.
But overall it sounds like you are having a great hatch! Can't wait for more pics!

I'm turning them myself and I only have 1 incubator (the still air 9300). So the one egg that's on day 12 and is still able to see well through, should I toss it? I just don't want to disturb it if it's fine. Thank you for the reassurance that the others are good!

I had two silkies in my last hatch (that may or may not be crossed. They looked like every other silkie..lol) That had no problems hatching at all. At lockdown the air cells looked great, but when I candled last night and saw more than half of the egg was air, I knew. Funny that that would happen between days 18-20 when teh humidity is at its highest. Weird. I am wondering if it wasn't the quality and the timing of collecting their eggs. In one week she could only collect three from the silkies and it was still quite cold, so maybe?? I don't know, just happy verall with my hatch. Thanks. I'll be posting pics a little later. Sorry @Silkie-Feet for ursurping your thread.
