Little Giant Incubator Tricks

When incubating at 99.5-100 with this incubator is hatching delayed??? I am on day 24 with nothing. All eggs looked good at last candle

I've not had much luck with incubating in cartons only do that for shipped eggs is your incubator forced air (with fan) or still air you run them at different temps no matter which I use I shot for 100 to 101

And I still check my digitals before every hatch I fill a glass with ice add water let it set for 3-5 min then I insert my prob from digital if it reads right at 32 degree f I know I'm good

THe question I would ask is where you are taking that reading??

I take readings at about half the height of the eggs. THat would be 99.5-100 with a fan.

IF a still air is being used, then 102 at the top of the eggs is the correct temp.

Some eggs take longer like marans eggs-- are these marans eggs?

x2 I do my measuring from top of eggs still air 101-102 and forces air 100-101

I did both on top of eggs and on bottom. So lesson learned to increase temps. Candled eggs nothing past previous time :(

I suggest try again with fresh eggs. Use a good thermometer and measure in several places like always 1/2 the egg height.I use a paper cup cut to that hieight to hold my fish tank thermomters; or lay the
lg's thermomter w/ plasticbase on top of the eggs and then lay thermometer on that. I used to measure several places AT THE SAME HEIGHT and average them. It is not100% uniform around the incubator. And a good reason to move the eggs around OR turn the lid.
