Yes they may not make it back ,good odd dead on the road or starved to dead. Illegal in most States to relocate, Here you have to chose, either kill them or released where trapped.
They have those laws for good reason, Rabies are spread like that. rabies were spread hundreds of mile here one year, good odds it was someone didn't want to be cruel and relocated a rabit predator.
Lot more reason not to relocated than let it live.
1. moved your problem to someone else
2. spread of disease
3. fights over territory(just look at some possum you catch ears half there, wounds everywhere)
4. many get kill crossing roads on their way back to your place
5. starving them to dead, yes odds you gave them a slow death
most of those predator, already at numbers where they will run out of food in the winter.(not many trap them now)
DNR know all this , here nice fine if caught ,and maybe jail time
