Live chick in trouble - graphic pics - help!

The chick just broke out of his inner membrane, but the yolk is partially attached to his abdomen. The yolk seems to be very minimally absorbed.

What now?

I would continue to keep him still and quiet and in the incubator with the humidity up. I have had a few who never did fully absorb the yolk but it was only a VERY small amount left. Do you have any updated pics on how it is looking?

That is an adorable kid in your avatar, BTW.

Here is a photo, just taken. As you can see, he has absorbed just about none of the yolk, but it is attached to him. I think he will not be alive for long. He is breathing fine, chirping, moving his limbs a bit, but I think I need to face facts. Developmentally, he seems to be behind - we are coming to the end of day 22, and the yolk should be absorbed already, I think.

hey cherlyn

are you using one of those dome incubators? the ones that are like 20 dollars. it looked like it from the picture of the chick. im only asking because i used the same one and both of my chicks i tried to hatch DID THE EXACT SAME THING it was so sad but it eventually died.. i think it was better off because it it wasn't stand up and stuff on its own yet the toes usually stay curled and would have been sad. im sorry about it i know what you are going through.

I am sorry to say, it really doesn't look good.

He could have some internal deformity, too, that is preventing him from properly absorbing it.

He really doesn't look like a full term chick.
