Chicks can be shipped in the mail because since they absorb the yolk, they don't need food or water for 24-72 hours. So, I think that he is fine without food for a while now. As for hydrating him overnight, I think that is a tough call... because once they start drinking, they do it ALL the time. For the first week or so, mine only took short naps and were up constantly for eating and drinking.... so, I'm torn... because he's a newborn, he should be fine, really all night without water. On the otherhand, he's already drinking a bunch and maybe once they start, they need it more often? If it were me, I wouldn't be sleeping much anyway because I'd be worried about him and would probably check every 2 hours or so, just to be safe...
