So sorry you lost the chick.
You did a terrific job bringing him along for as long as you did.
This has been a wonderfull, exciting, heartbreaking thread and I personally have learned a great deal from your experience.
I applaud your hard work and determination, you went further than most are willing to go.

Don't blame yourself .... it was very likely that he had other issues that could not be seen with the naked eye.

What ever you did wrong if anything at all you have more than made up for with care it is so hard some times to raise chicks. There has been a lot of things leared form the post and a lot of ppl are closer together than before so your work was not in vaine at all you did a great job of takeing responsabilty for that chick. Best of luck on your next hatches dont ever give up.

I am so sorry. I know it might not help and depending on you personality it might bother you but here it goes. I think he was waiting for you to sleep like that. My Grandfather is a doctor and one of his patiants passed cancer on to her child in the womb. If I remember he lived to 5 or 6 and one day he told my Grandfather to send his mom home for the night. He died overnight. I personaly believe that animals go to heaven and when my father died in Febuary the only thing that helped at all was that he was no longer in pain or suffering. Those that die get heaven and we get this world. In my opinon they are the lucky ones. You are in my prayers.
