live trapping fox?

Amen on "lots of patience." I've been trapping since I was 10 years old (that adds up to 60 years on and off

). In that time period I've caught many fox in snares and legholds at dirt-hole sets, but I've only ever caught 4 red fox in hav a hart traps. Gray fox-- that's another story. If you are trying a live trap get as large a trap as you can afford

Or either build this one and just make it smaller http://www.rmrs.nau.edu/publications/kolbeetal/kolbeetal.pdf

and go to a trapping site for advice. Good luck.

haha! Yeah, I'm thinking people probably then shoot them, but I'm not sure.

We're wondering what to do with our fox issue here. Thinking a coil spring trap. But the fox, you know, might be a mother with babies, and then those babies are without a mother, the issue gets complicated... I'm sure if he picks off any more of my chickens, it will get uncomplicated real fast.

Problem is you let the mom raise the babies and your yard just became a bird hunting 101 class for the kits cause it's easy

Just drown or shoot it, you can be sure it's not giving you the same consideration

I always put the live trap agianst the fenceline in the weeds and tie the bait (usually a chicken leg)with dental floss to the back of the trap, caught those little beasts good.

My SO catches a ton of foxes in boxtraps. She just sees where's they're entering the pen and sets the trap up next to that with a few eggs inside.

When you call an exterminator, you do not tell him to kill the adult rats and leave the baby rats alone?

I would not say that they are stupid by any means. Fox urine works well on catching them though, if you can find any. Chicken hearts and livers work well to bring them in but they dont get in the trap for some reason. When they come around you just have to shoot them.
