Living life on the edge (of the incubator) hatch-a-long

Honest answer is I do not know. I'd have to go out and count each coop. I've sold off a lot of layers that I should have kept a few of but people came to buy and I sold all out of some before I could get the for sale signs down. Now I need to hit TSC for a few RIR hens. None of those left and I have a EE rooster that throws beautiful birds from them.
I think it's honestly safer when you don't know how many chickens you have 🤣 for me, if my hubby counts them, I can be just as incredulous as he is when he tells me the number. :gig

He did tell me last night that he needs 10 layers, and then upped it to 15 layers. Ok, shouldn't be a problem 🤣 I wasn't going to hatch more until July, but we're getting really nice eggs from my oldest BA's, and they'd still be fertilized from our EE rooster we parted ways with on Saturday. I told him with vaccinating I don't like doing smaller hatches, and he said whats the big deal, it's not hard to vaccinate 🙄 twist my arm and make me set more eggs... I'll be removing clears tomorrow, if they all fit in the one Brinsea, I may be convinced to set more eggs

I should be getting my silkie eggs tomorrow and then I'll set them and all the Bresse eggs I have ready. I think we are getting around 20 silkie eggs. May not quite fill an incubator but that's ok. I may fill the rest of the slots with more Red Sex Link or Dark Cornish. I don't know which way the ball will bounce on that one.

Yay! More silkies!

I'm going to pull the silkie eggs on day 17 and put in another incubator for lock down and keep the others cooking until day 18. The others will be divided into other incubators for lockdown according to breed. Maybe then I can keep them straight. I need to figure a way to make the sides higher on my baskets so they don't jump over the sides to visit their neighbors and messing with my mind.

I need to increase the height on my try sides as well, I had one roaming around through the baskets last time.

That's a good idea on locking the silkies down a day early, I've been locking them down in the afternoon of Day 17 just to be safe.
