Living life on the edge (of the incubator) hatch-a-long

No need to apologize! I have a poor succulent, it is needing some expert advice...

It seems he has been over watered lately 😬 his name is Twig and I think I've had him for 2 years.

He's grown but I really don't know what he needs. He was just one shoot when I brought him home. How can I do better for Twig? Soil, pot size? Nutrients?

Right now he gets spritzed on random occasions with orchid fertilizer spray and watered also occasionally.
I think that's called a Jade plant. I have one. I started it from someone's slip, grew tall like a foot high, then staked it. Then a cat knocked it over and broke it. Then I stuck that part in the dirt and it grew too. Then hubby knocked it over so I had pieces everywhere. It's now 6" tall, so we're starting over, and no more plants on end tables in the living room!

I have a swiss cheese plant you should get Tink. Can't kill that thing and it's prolific as heck!

Then there's this English Ivy we brought in this fall. In the south, they grow up the sides of people's houses but here we have to bring them in. It went so nuts outside this summer that hubby had to build it a rack. That flower is from a sunflower seed that grew when we brought other plants in.

Large jade plants are quite valuable. At least they were in the 70's.

You have such a beautiful green oasis! Mine is struggling...

Swiss cheese plant, heading to google...

Back in the 70's the man who had a greenhouse in MO that started my tomato plants had a very large one in his greenhouse that he used to start his new plants that he sold. He had been offered lots of money for his if I remember right. It was several feet tall. We should put one in our sun room if we ever get it emptied to where we could and start a lot of little ones for the new farmers market we are getting.

I just read a bit about them, it said they grow an inch or two a year, but can get to 3 to 6 feet tall. Wow, I bet a large one is worth a decent amount of money. Also, if they get enough sun, they're supposed to get a red edge to their leaves, well, mine is over watered and not getting enough sun. Poor Twig!

Day 15 brought to you by this article!

Day 15

700

The chick is now mostly formed and there are few morphological changes. Down is growing larger and is continuing to grow, as is the embryo. The shrinking of the vitellus accelerates. The embryo begins to position its head under its right wing, which is the pipping position.

So for starters, I think your guy is an elephant bush, sometimes known as a dwarf jade. IMO he's asking for more sun, the location he's in right now isn't providing him with jut the right amount. Definitely cut back on watering, I see that the soil is very moist, in the winter most of mine have bone dry soil for a few weeks before getting watered. Considering your guy doesn't have many leaves, but is an indoor plant, I'd wait three to four weeks, I'd the leaves show signs of underwatering, give him a good water soak. It's important to remember that watering succulents is all about giving them loads of water very rarely. When watering a succulent, don't hold back. I personally prefer bottom watering
