Loads of questions about Serama Bantams from someone new to chickens!

Good luck w/ur shipped eggs. I have gotton eggs just tossed in box and shipped in all sorts of positions. Now i ask shippers to bubble wrap eggs and set them in the box pointed end down in an egg carton preferably.also write " eggs DO NOT EXRAY" and eggs on the outside. Im also careful not to spin or turn them when i unwrap them and i place them pointed end down on a carton to rest at room temp for at least 24 hours b4 i set them. I incubate pointed end down and do not turn the eggs for 1st couple of days. I rarely have malpositioned air cells

You have 10 still going from a dozen that were shipped? That sounds really good to me! Good luck and let me know how the hatch goes!
I woke up this morning to 5 little serama chicks! I was tickled beyond words. I also had 6 cemani chicks hatch 2 days b4. Those little cemanis are eating machines!

Aww, so precious! Is that dark serama in the middle a blue? These were out of Josiah Woodfield's (unfinishedfurniture on ebay) eggs, right? I'd love to see how they grow out for you.

I'd love to pick your brain a bit about hatching shipped serama eggs. Seems like you're doing a good job with them now.

I decided that if I'm going to ship eggs myself, it'd be good if I know what it's like to receive and incubate shipped eggs. So I bought some this week on Ebay from pccampb.

I received 9 eggs yesterday, let them rest about 24 hours. At this point, 3 have no visible air cell, 1 has a saddle shaped air cell (was detached yesterday), the rest are detached air cells. I'm incubating them upright in quail trays like so:

I'm planning not to turn for a couple days and then I'll just tilt them from side to side 2-3 times a day. Humidity and temp will be same I've been using all season for my own eggs.

In your experience/opinion, what are the chances these air cells will fix into place over the next couple days? Can eggs that start this messed up develop and hatch chicks? I'm guessing the ones I don't see an air cell in are just mixed up (I could only see air cells in two of them yesterday when they arrived).

Do you have any other tips/advice?

I try not to handle the eggs much. Honestly..i don't even check air cells. I theorize that resting the eggs, gravity and the beginning of incubation without turning for a couple days may help the air cells stabilize. Once i start incubation..i don't even handle the eggs for a week or more. By the time a do check them, the fertile ones look pretty much normal.

I just got some serama eggs from daytonaron on ebay. Box was pretty beat up by USPS. One egg broke. So..they probly had a rough ride. I just set them to incubate. I have 15 eggs. Two r silkie serama. I'll let u know how they do.

Here r my babies from the unfinished furniture guy. The 3 older chicks r from ebay seller rmcwhbl
