There were more white rocks in the last show then the barred variety. Nice ones too. One of the cocks took grand champion.

Here is a breeder I got my barred variety from, and he also does white. Too bad he doesn't have an image of the whites on the page, but the barred are really nice. Not as nice as you have from Kathyinmo, but one of the best in this area.

Howdy! finally I have time to drop and introduce myself. The unlucky friend is me. As of tonight, I have no news from the DOA but that was expected as I was told it would be early next week until the results are in. I have put my babies on antibiotics as of last night in the unlikely event that its nothing serious then they can start the healing process. Tonight while doing my chores I could hear some flegmy coughs from my older chicks, discouraging My chanteclerc and Silkies are still healthy. As much as I'm trying to be strong, its been a stressful week. my bf is quite depressed over this ordeal. The sad part is, I was so looking forward to visiting Aoxa's farm, I guess it will be a while now until we'll be able too, because I would never put any animal at risk, at least knowingly.

Coccidiosis is a major opportunistic disease. I would say that I would treat aggressively for Coccidiosis. With every bird that I sent for necropsy, Coccidia were present. Many others have noticed the same. When the bird is compromised, it seems Coccidia runs rampant.

Yes. Medicated starter is only good for aiding in the prevention of Coccidiosis. It contains a low level of amprolium in hopes that the chicks will not be overloaded by the oocysts before they gain proper immunity. However, in times of high oocyst loads in the soil, illness or other stresses, the chickens can be infected. This happens all the time in summer when it is hot and humid. The amount of Coccidia are so high that the small amount of Amprolium is not enough to keep it in check. It also happens often when birds' immune systems are compromised by another illness. Treat for Coccidiosis...it can't hurt even if they don't have it.

Just spoke to the vet. The reason we still have no answer is because they didn't find anything in the first testing, they tested some tissue samples and found abnormal cells which they sent to another lab. There, they are cultivating those cells to determine what the abnormality is, thus the 1 to 2 week wait. As for the bloody stool he gave me cocci treatment, as their immune.system is weak cocci took over. That's that for.now

What a busy evening, cleaned out the deep litter in the coop and everybody except my 3 chanteclers are on cocci treatment as off now. we hope that those 3 were far enough away, at least they are no signs of illness as of yet. But everybody else is being treated regardless of symptoms or not. The reason we are not treating the chantecler is because they are our only layers at this point and if we treat them we won't be able to consume the eggs for 6 weeks, 3 weeks for the treatment and 3 weeks after the vet said. In the mean time all we can do is wait for the results for whatever else they have.
