Locating BOSS that won't break the bank

$31/bag at Mesa Feed Barn (AZ) a couple of weeks ago- I didn't buy the bag (don't know if it was 40 or 50#) -too expensive!

I just bought 4# in the bulk bin since I needed to see if they would even eat it because they really need to grow their feathers. They didn't really eat it that much so I'm glad I didn't get the big bag!

Ours also went up to $26.99 a few weeks ago.

Is there anything else that would be as good as the BOSS for a treat such as that for the chickens?

Every so often, i find some BOSS on clearance at the grocery store.

Shelf space is expensive there, so they are regularly clearancing out seasonal stuff (got me a neat table top propane grill for <$10, too)

Sunflowers are really easy to grow. You could always grow your own.
