Im new here as well, and had never heard of lockdown, and i still odnt entirely understand what it is. I am hatching guineas at the moment too. I have a styrofoam incubator, and I have never taken the turner out, except for a second to add water. They seem to be hatching perfectly fine with the turner in it as well. And as soon as the keets are dry i remove them from the incubator and into the brooder they go, unless there is more than one at a time them i leave them longer until they are all dry.

Is it bad that mine are hatching sporatically? I had a few hatch 3 or 4 days ago and then i had one hatch two days ago and two more this morning. All seem perfectly healthy, and i had a few more hatch as well, but two died. One was weak and i think another may have accedentally cracked his egg or he tried hatching too early, and then another one was very lethargic and just passed away of unknown causes. I think im doing pretty good though considering i have 6 in the brooder right now. And I have chicken eggs in the same incubator due for the 21st of may. Is that bad? The guinea eggs were being brooded by a hen at first but i decided to remove them from her because i did not want them running loose everywhere for my dog to catch and eat.

Luckily the temp in my incubator is steady, but i think yours will be fine just so long as you are able to make the temp steady. Are u from GA? (looking at username) I am too, and if your keets dont hatch i can sell you some of mine as I was planning on selling them anyways.

Don't worry. I was just reassured about the same thing. Mine went from 97 to 104 too in the last couple of days. Are you adding hot water? She also told me not to give up before day 32! I'm not sure I could have that much patience.

Edit: fixed punctuation...

Day 32? Wow. I need to relax. I have the temp regulated again... I almost passed out when i saw the temp at 104, and I quickly (without thinking) took the lid off and figured while i had it off a minute i would add water. i did everything so quickly, i didnt realize the water i put in was room temp (not warm) and i had immediately turned the knob to lower the heat so it took me awhile to get the temp back up to where it needed to be. I was thinking it was broken or something and then realized it was because the water wasnt warm. I just feel uneasy because when i candled the other night when i removed the turner, i didnt see any movement. they were pretty dark and i could clearly see the air cell. 2 looked like they quit a while back. 1 was clear so i threw it away. so i have 9 possibles. I think thats pretty good for shipped eggs. if they dont hatch, I am ordering live keets. I live in PA near the OH border. I just wish there was something I could do as they seem pretty developed, it would be heartbreaking if they dont hatch.

To the person from GA... not from GA, its my name... but i hear its a beautiful place and I am wishing I could buy your keets. Thanks for all the support everyone, I feel better.

Day 27........still nothing. think i should candle tonight if nothing happens today? i hate to open it up now that i have the temp regulated. I wish i could help them somehow.

I wouldn't open it for at least 4 or 5 days - it could really mess with your temps/humidity. It has taken me a full day to get things steady both times I opened it. Did you see the post about the guy with a chick that hatched day 29??? Mine aren't doing anything either, and I'm at day 28. Like I said before, since this is only the last 4 out of 12 original eggs I don't have much hope. But I just got some new eggs to try so these better hurry up and do something!
