Lockdown Humidity Question... Fill all water reservoirs?

Hi, we are hatching our first batch of eggs kindly given to us by some friends with some interesting breeds.

If everyone hatches out properly, we'll have Nankins, Silkie/Frizzle crosses, Americaunas, Seebrights, Sumatras, Cochins and a handful of others.

I think we need to reduce the humidity; but wanted to know if on day 14-day 18/19 you can drop the humidity enough to make a difference in the air pocket at the end of the egg? Based on my pencil tracings of the air pocket; most of them are borderline ok; but a few of them need more air pocket based on the diagrams. Or are we doomed to have a failed hatch? These eggs are for my sons 4H project. I know what to do with the chicks once they've hatched; but the incubating part is completely new to me. thanks in advance for any help.

I don't think it would hurt to try. So you are on day 14? You could also delay lockdown till day 19. What humidity have you been using and how does the activity inside the egg look? Are they already starting to fill up the space? Those are some nice breeds, I hope it works out for you and your son.

They most certainly can. Alot depends on the porousity of the egg. I usually recommend that if air cells are small at day 14 and you aren't running completely dry to run dry for 24 hours and
recheck. Sometimes a night or two dry will be enough to even things out, sometimes you need to finish the incubation (to lockdown) dry. Usually the egg looses more moisture between days
14-18 then between 0-7 or the 7-14 period. Good luck and keep us posted.

) This is the funny thing, most of my world views, most, not all. are more conservative than liberal. I'm like yin and yang of liberal conservatism, a barnyard mix of philosphies, where the polictial river meets the ocean, a peanut butter cup of the best of both ideologies. Shall I keep going??? lol
