LOCKDOWN--I HAVE PIPS!- Hatch Date 9/22/09ish

Ok- so my quail eggs are on "lockdown" but I am turning the Maran eggs by hand still. Trying to be speedy.

Tossed eggs #1, #2, and #15...three of my previous suspects.

Moved Eggs #10 & #12 to the "suspect" tub. Looks like they died over the weekend.

That leaves me with 8 still "good" and 2 "suspects".

I am also starting to get a head cold, which means everytime my nose whistles, I am going to think the chicks are peeping. *****sigh*****

Bored out of my mind.... sinus infection myself

Candling tomorrow night......

All 12 of my duck eggs are looking good. Had a small spike in temp, but all is ok. I candled last night. My eggs are due the 23rd, but I think the 22nd due to a little higher temp. I had a slow hatch last time, so I raised the temp .5 degrees. They all hatched a day late last time. Good Luck everybody!!

And the candling report:

Scroll down to 9/16/09

Looks like we lost for sure another (mutt egg) and possibly a fourth but the EE eggs are soooooo dark we couldn't see into them even with a halogen lamp and the mag light so we were guessing based on where the darkest spots were, how they were shaped, etc in correlation to the other 5 that were easier to candle. 2 of the mutts were kicking at us, we got to see little feet! So at the moment 11 out of 15 ain't bad!

Went to turn the Maran eggs and noticed a pip in one of the quail eggs. Peeped at it and a few others rocked. Day 18 is tomorrow!

Laree sounds like they're getting ready to pop out at you! Go peepers!

I have some abandoned eggs due lord knows when and some serama on day...7

Some test eggs running in a shake out cruise in the redwood bator on about day ermm 10.

And the eggs I stole from the broody sizzle, some serama, some sizzle on day 1...

Welcome to the endless hatch... chuckle.

One of my quail hatched around noon. Took him about a minute and a half. The others are mostly pipped but just being lazy. I finally pulled the little one out and put him in the brooder, but I feel bad. He has a stuffed animal, but is definately imprinted on me.

He runs (stumbles) up and down the brooder whenever I walk by.

For me, the first 2 weeks of this incubation FLEW by...... this last week is going to take forever, seriously. I only candled yesterday but it feels like 4 days already. So how fast does Wednesday get here???

Went to bed with one lonely quail in the brooder, 2 in the incubator, and a sense of anticipation.

Woke up to 11 quail in the incubator and 5 more eggs to go (again...I thought I set 16?) 1+11+5=17 What gives?

TODAY IS LOCKDOWN FOR THE CHICKEN EGGS!
