Lockdown in 2 days

700

Here are 2 that were born yesterday. 2 today still in incubator. 2 zipped. 2 or 3 little pips

Which one are you hatching in? 7,20,40,180,360 2 million...
I'm incubating and hatching in an Octagon 20 Advance. Last batch was my first. I absolutely love it. I got the Advance so I could add the pump if I needed, but it didn't take much attention even without the pump. Perfect incubator for someone who is only home at night. I doubt I will ever get a 40, but I could see myself with two 20s. I'm going to see how much demand there actually is for my started pullets in the spring. Last year I could sell them as fast as my broodies would hatch, but I've never been able to have this many at one time

I looked at the 20 and the 40...and in a moment of weakness or senility bought the cabinet. I can hatch 360, I think. I bet the 20 is awesome though. I love the brinsea products.

I would love to sell chicks in the spring too. What kinds of chicks are good sellers?

So far the silkies have moved the fastest, but this will be my first year selling Polish, Marans, and d'Uccles. I think the Marans are going to be a hot item. They look to be an awesome dual purpose bird, and a few want to brood. I'm curious to see how the Polish sell. Everyone that comes over is drawn to that pen, but they are so unique looking that I don't think they are for everyone. I hope I'm wrong. I'm starting to understand why they sell for so much. They just don't lay many eggs, at least not compared to my hybrids
edit: 360! I would have to quit my job...

I have the Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco and I used it for the first time last month. 17 out of 18 chicks hatched. I love this incubator even though I had a hard time keeping the humidity up for the hatch. This time I'm going to put handi wipes in the water wells when I lock them down. My new batch goes into lock down this Saturday. I can't wait!

P.S. Hubby got me the Brinsea OvaScope high intensity candler for Christmas. I'm in egg candling heaven, lol!! I love it!

The ova scope is great! Just large eggs not so much! You had an awesome hatch too!

@scflock...love polish. Couldn't get my hands on any in the fall. So cute!

Silkies is what I have. Black, blue, white, naked necks, frizzles. All growing... And a breeding trio of EE.

Everything else is an egg...orpingtons & silkies.
