Lockdown on my first hatch!!!

Pics
Hey I am in Yuba City. Hi neighbor! We are on day 19! Not my first hatch, but first one with my own eggs and a new incubator. My old brower incubator died. I only managed 65% hatch rate in it, so hopeful this new incubator works better despite being cheaper.

I put 7 silkie eggs in. Blue Cream mom and blue Dad. Dad has recessive white Gene too. So looking forward to seeing what we get.

1 quit developing around day 15. But the other 6 are doing great. They are starting to wiggle in the incubator

I am a medler and checked for early internal pips today. No yet, but draw down has started, do soon I should be able to hear a few. Hoping by morning!

Good luck with your hatch! What incubator are you using?

Chantel

12 silkie eggs originally put in, 7 left at lockdown on day 18. I’m so excited! Mom is a porcelain silkie and dad is a blue splash so really interested to see what color they turn out to be!
Oops. Ignore the hi neighbor... I saw a user named Butte CA liked your post and assumed it was your location!

Lol! Its ok. I was racking my brain trying to remember where Yuba City was in Texas though! I am using the Magicfly mini incubator. It doesn't have a lot of room but I think it works out well for a beginner like me. I'm not sure I could handle a lot of eggs right now. I'm so excited though!!!

Me too(magicfly & janoel12 are the same) If you take out the turner you can load it up. Manually turn or tilt the incubator if it's full. Watched a video of a woman who packed 24 eggs in it!!! I don't need that many, so it works for me.

So I don't see or hear any changes this morning. Mustering strength to not open bator and candle for internal pip....

So tempting....

It's gonna be a long day. Day 20 is here. I got up 3x to check on the eggs last night. I get a little obsessive... Lol. I know I will not be getting much done today! Hanging out by the incubator! I have hatched at least a dozen times, and still the excitement is the same.

Thankfully I have to work today so I can only bug my husband to keep looking at it for me lol! All bets are off this weekend though, so its going to be very hard not to check every 5 minutes. I candled them last night before lockdown and all of them were moving. I even got one of the them to cheep to me for a few seconds. I'm worried about keeping the humidity up in mine but its done a pretty good job with it so far.

I have NO will power. I only candled one! Picked the one with the biggest air cell yesterday. It has internally pipped!!!

The one next to it moved when I opened the incubator. So now I am gonna sit on my hands....

Cheeping means you have internal pips!! No more candling! You might come home to babies! Did you calibrate your incubator? There is a YouTube video on how to do it. Kate now, but next hatch as it sounds like you may be a bit early. (Running a bit hot). Hope you can get lots of updates from hubby! I will post pics when I can!

Lol! I had to learn the hard way not to mess with them too much. I killed one of my dove chicks when I dropped it the day of or before it was supposed to hatch. I think that is the only reason I can restrain myself though.

And I didn't know it meant I had an internal pip if it cheeped!!!!! That's soooo awesome! I really hope I come home to a baby or at least an external pip! Then I get to see it zip!

Sorry about your dove egg!!!

Chicks need air to chirp. So yep, you have an internal pip!
