thank you i will. right now i am having a hard time with the humidity. i filled all the spaces, added a tea cup with a sponge as a wick and laid a strip of sponge on the floor and its only 45% . wondering if a crock pot sitting next to it may help

I am wondering if the outside temp is to low, have you tried putting a towel or a blanket over the incubator to help keep the humidity up where you would like it as I do believe 50% humidity is about as low as it should be

no, i havent used a towel. i might get lucky for today at least. its supposed to get 51 and good chance of rain. the air is heavy. would the towel run the temp up? have you ever wet the towel?

i have about 10 pips so far. no zips yet. everything is going good except one piped on small end and of course i rushed in and it is pretty gross looking but still alive some how. can only get humidity to about 65 no matter how many sponges i add. been doing this all day, running to look in between chores. im about as tired as i can get. hope i wake up to a few chicks anyway. day 19

13 so far. not over yet!! the one i tried to help died, it was pipped at the wrong end , i opened that end and then it turned and went to the other end. it was a little bit of a pointed egg. i should not have set it. was really paying attention to shape. lesson learned.

morning. i have 20 and i think maybe a couple more coming. i had 3 that had a little problem that i am not familiar with. they are all the same chicks. the first 2 looked like the yolk had stuck to them . they hatched on their own but sticky. they are still like that.the third one i was able to see hatch and it had a marble sized something in the shell that looked like a cross between yolk and white. it was not attached to the chick it just didnt brake like the other two must have.it wasnt the stuff that is always in the bottom of the shell. it was more attached to the side.like a little jelly blob. they all seem to be fine though. navel was normal.
