I bet you have coyotes. lol looks like most other wild animals [large] have been eliminated

We have a large pop of coyotes here now, they say they are a threat to young fawns so far I have only see them 2X close by but hear them often when sirens go off on the hiway across the mt from us.

We do! We also have bobcat and a plethora of other predators.

Mt Mitchell is on the Blue Ridge parkway thought maybe you may have traveled down here for hiking. Lots of good hiking around.

We actually just backpacked half of Shenandoah Natinal Park this past fall. We started at Rockfish Gap in Waynesboro and headed north. So, I am sure we drove on it. However, I haven't gotten to NC yet. Well, not fot backpacking trips.
