I have a small coop with only one nesting box. We have a hen whose gone broody and id like to get her some chicks. Problem is that we only have one box so our other hens still lay their eggs in the box while the broody hen goes down to eat/drink. The other problem is that the box is high up. I made a nesting box on the ground for her and moved her eggs down there but she won’t sit in it.

How/where do I safely introduce these chicks to her?

I put my broody and new chicks in a wire dog crate inside the coop/run. Close her in there with the eggs then introduce the chicks. That way they can have separate food and water and the chicks are safe. After a few days you can open the crate so they can come and go as the hen wishes.

That’s a good idea. When you open the crate are they in the same coop as the rest of the flock?
