I'm down to one drake I kept because I really like him. I have new girls growing up. Will he be able to wait 8wks until they are full grown? Will he wander away? I know he'll be lonely. I'm hoping he can hold out two months before he starts mating my chickens. How soon could I integrate them? Will he immediately start mating them? I'm guessing they will need to be full grown. Just thought I'd seek more experienced input! Thank you! :)

He may not be willing to wait but he needs to. He wouldn't likely wander away but ducks need secure housing to remain safe. He needs to be kept away from them until they are of breeding age, so 4-6 months minimum, not just until they are the same size. He will most likely begin mating them as soon as he has access. If you can keep them side by side so they can see each other but seperate, introductions will be easier.

We have a run set up just for introducing new birds ready to go on the ground but not ready for the flock. I was hoping earlier, but I should know better. Thank you for your reply!
