We only hatched 2 chicks out of 8 this time and one of the little peepers died this afternoon leaving a lone chick. I don't know what to do for the little guy. It seems okay for now but what about company, etc. ANY ideas at all would be very appreciated

! We've always had at least 2 together so I'm worried about this one. Thanks!!

Some have tried keeping an old fashion feather duster that you dust with in the brooder with the lone chick...and a mirror.....

Also maybe you can find a newly hatched chick close from someone.....

I used a feather boa and cut it in a 6-8 inch section. It thought it was mom. However; I did have to pretend that my finger was a beak to keep her drinking :o

Ya but this chick was so spoiled that I could'nt put it down.
at night I had to sleep on the couch with my hand in the bucket. and during the day I had to let it sleep in my pocket so I could get things done. I would get so busy I forgot I had her. She is 4 now.

Thank you for your help! I put in 2 stuffed animals and a mirror & it's settled right down. Laying in front of the mirror talking to it - too cute!! Anything else I should watch for? Should it be ok with the older chickens when it's old enough?

She should be fine with the older birds, only thing that I've noticed different with lone chicks is that they are clingy and often loners for half the day when let out with the rest.
