Lonely duck makes unknown whistling noise

We lost one of our beloved Pekin ducks two days ago, which leaves us with one lonely little duckling. He's a little over two months old, but now all alone after spending those two months with his brother. He's been a lot more quiet, still eats and drinks very well, but kinda jumpy when we approach him. This evening, as he was laying next to me, I noticed him making a strange, quiet whistling noise. It sounded a little bit like when there's a lot of wind and it floats through your house, that whining?

Is this normal for ducks? Or is it a reaction to his loss, a warning for a health problem? This is our first time dealing with ducks, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Duckling can make lil whistling noises while asleep so hopefully it isn't anything to worry about I'd def keep an eye on him. How is his eyes nares look no discharge?

He was a little bit over two months. We have an idea what it could've been but we're not sure. He had an infection in his intestines that most likely spread to his lungs, since his breathing was very heavy and through his beak in his last week. Our other duckling is actually showing the same signs, so we're getting him to a vet tomorrow.

Actually, yeah. Quite a lot of discharge, but don't know what I'm doing wrong. We provide him with clean food and water, change it every few hours and I clean his eyes every day, twice. He also has a little foam eye going on so I'm treating that with clean water and apple cider vinegar.

Yes, he has a bowl for food and water available 24/7, a little kiddie pool he uses to clean himself and we get him to swim in a tub at least every day.

He def needs a vet with symptoms your seeing. Please let us know what the vet says.

You should also try and get another duck about his age preferably a female. Ducks need companions.

Getting another duck was not in the question up until recently, but we definitely won't get another duck until we can determine the problem. If it's an infection the risk of the other duck getting it will be high, so we'll take it day by day for now and just see where things go. If he gets healthy again soon, we'll consider it, since he seems a bit sad.

You can provide him with a mirror till he recovers. Then he won't feel so alone..
