yes I have heard this. Also if/when I get another parakeet, do I need another cage? have heard that "you can't just stick to birds in a cage and expect them to just be friends." Which I totally get. But could I just put a sheld down the middle of the cage I have? her and Calib used to live together in that cage. And they didn't seem to mind to much.

Also, she does "free range" around my bedroom she has a perch along the window, with a ladder and mirror along with stuff on the outside of her cage. so she would still have the same amount of space outside the cage.

A temporary divider down the cage while they get used to each other would be fine Although if you're getting a new bird from a pet store or a source that you can't be 100% sure it would be healthy from, then it's advised to quarantine the new bird away from your existing bird for awhile just in case. So if you're going to do that you'd need another cage anyway.

not sure.... but maybe you could buy a small cage..

I really like having extra cages... it can be used as a hospital cage, or a travel cage.... so don't think you will use it only once. Also, since it is a temporary cage, it is OK to have a small one.
