When you agree to your chicken's demand for more food from your vegetable garden, feed them some HOT PEPPERS!

Then calmly explain that you like "Chicken Enchiladas" almost as much as you like "Heuvos Rancheros"!

That should "do-the-trick". You chould get an increase in egg-production!

It's comforting to see that others have the same problem. I wondered if I was the only one whose chickens were refusing to lay. Even feeding them large amounts of soldier fly larvae, although they LOVE it, hasn't convincing them.

I think my next step will be to put a sign up in the coop, in the "upper room" where most of the adults sleep. It'll post one of their photos, framed, and then beside it write...

"Here lies 'Ol Blackie
Within this here frame
The tale of her death
Was really a shame.

Her owners would ask
They'd beg and they'd beg
Hoping that she would
Lay them more eggs.

But day after day
She never complied
Until one night for dinner
'Ol Blackie they fried."

Do chickens read English poetry, or should I write in chicken scratch?

I love the hot peppers / huevo ranchero idea too. haha
