On a solemn note, the kingdom sustained an attack today by a winged dragon (red-tailed hawk). The young prince, who shall from here on be named Lucky, took a hit for his friends. He is a bit battered and bloody, but will survive. The neighboring giants witnessed the attack and were able to intervene in time. Prince Lucky has a few cuts and is a bit shaky, but otherwise seems to be unharmed. He is in the infirmary where he will stay for observation for a couple of days. All other youngsters are safe inside the castle.

Oh poor Prince Lucky! I hope they Ladies in Waiting will pamper him when he returns to the kingdom! Bless the giants in the neighboring kingdom!

Prince Lucky is now eating. He stumbles a little to one side when he walks, but the royal physicians are hopeful for a full recovery.

I'm so glad Lucky got out alive! A brave and strong "warrior" in the making. All hail the giants!

We had a chicken that survived a hawk attack, had two other attacks some time later and apart but luckily no one was injured or killed in them. The only predator we've ever encountered actually bothering our chickens.
