Look at what I found at Lowes today, what do you think?

I don't mean to be the "downer" I'm just saying that I ruled them out because of the heat retention they have. The girls won't lay if it is too hot. Maybe a roof vent or something. Sorry. I know I sound like I'm out to pop your bubble. It is a good deal... I just wanted to point out that they hold the heat and that it would be easier for you to "nip that in the butt" before you get the birds in.

If you need to add more ventilation it would be easy to cut into. I didn't need to. I'm in Seattle and it is in the shade. Even in the 103 record temps last summer my coop never got warmer than the ambient temp. But in SW desert sun at midday- maybe not so good. One nice thing is that they are perfectly dry inside 100%. That's a bigger deal here on the wet coast.

Oh I honestly welcome everyone's comments, that gives me a wider range of info. I have such a range of things I can use the buildings for but coops are my preference. Since I need more currently.

I have the metal one (not for chickens) that is 8 x 10 - it doesn't get at hot as the plastic ones - the displays, that is. I added two aire vents up top of the gables, though... that really helped. I have two wethers in it. lol. They have destroyed it. I never had goats before and didn't think these two dwarfs could do it... but they did!

yeah, the metal seems easier to add those vents. I am using it for a brooder house and incubating area but need good ventilation. And for the goats................they will eat anything i swear! I have lost 3 tye dye dressed due to those lil critters...........SIGH
